Copy my method to get your First Upwork job
Enough of trial and error in a bid to get your first job on Upwork or steady job flow so you can quit your salary job like I did about 3 years ago. Like many others like me, you should start getting paid thousands of dollars and get jobs from left, right and centre through freelancing on Upwork. But you can’t keep using the same approaches that have not worked for you. It would help to have a definitive plan and an actionable strategy that guarantees results.
First, here are three common pitfalls of new Upwork freelancers before discussing the remarkable tricks for success on Upwork.
1. Lazy Proposals: The clients are humans with multiple choices; I mean, so many alternative freelancers to you. So why would they accept hiring you if you piece and throw a half-baked proposal that doesn’t stand out? Upwork is a competition, and proposal submissions are not different from essay competitions but are even more brutal.
So what’s the action point? Stop sending those proposals you copied from that Upwork “guru” and start writing tailor-made proposals for each job, ensuring they address clients’ needs and display your understanding of the client’s project, adding specific samples similar to what the client wants.
