Beyond AI: the human edge in creativity
AI is revolutionizing every industry. However, while the current capability and potential are impressive, it will likely take decades to reach a point where it could completely replace humans, if it ever does.
Until then, AI will remain a valuable tool for humans in various industries rather than a direct threat. In my opinion, individuals should focus on areas of their professions that AI is projected to take longer to reach.
For example, filmmakers can leverage AI to enhance their creative processes, including script, editing and visual effects generation. However, certain aspects of filmmaking, such as acting, are unlikely to be replaced by AI anytime soon. There’s a unique value in human creativity and expression that AI cannot replicate same way printers has not succeeded in making painted artworks less valuable.
Similarly, for a lawyer, AI is rapidly transforming legal research and document reviews. AI can sift through vast legal databases, identify relevant precedents, and draft initial legal documents, allowing lawyers to focus on honing their human-centric skills like negotiation and courtroom advocacy.
In my view, while AI has the potential to disrupt every industry, the cost implications and human regulatory power over AI act as a harness to guide and control its development, preventing it from reaching a level where it poses a threat to human existence. What are your thoughts on this?
