Sometimes the biggest enemy of progress is perfection. You are waiting for the perfect opportunity, perfect person, perfect time, perfect approach and all. Your ideas then get stuck in analysis paralysis!

“Analysis paralysis describes an individual or group process where overanalyzing or overthinking a situation can cause forward motion or decision-making to become “paralyzed”, meaning that no solution or course of action is decided upon within a natural time frame.”

— Wikipedia

Since I started posting content for #freelancers. and remote workers on LinkedIn, I started getting requests from people asking me for my YouTube channel in my DM. I agree it’s high time I started a channel as explaining in video form will help people understand things I teach better. So I started analyzing what I needed to start. Got caught up in the analysis-paralysis cycle as there’s always something left.

I did my best to get some gear and just got started anyway, shunning perfectionism. The audio of my first YouTube video about Upwork is not the best, but I uploaded it anyway after failed battling to improve it in Audition.

The feedback I got from the first video was impressive, people appreciated the content. So I worked on the next video and improved the audio a bit more. I am uploading that now. Perfectionism cannot stop me!

Going forward, I will try to shoot at a quieter time to avoid the slight hiss caused by the noise reduction effects I use.

In conclusion, if you have an idea, work on it, and give it your best. Perfection is not a button you press once; it is a destination attained through continuous improvement.

Have you experienced analysis paralysis before?
