Tip 1. We form genuine friendships with our clients. Show a genuine interest in their project and not only the payment. You should occasionally make suggestions and professional recommendations. Modestly offer them discounts and occasionally, complementary services.

Tip 2. We know that the competition keeps growing; so we grow too. Learn new skills and/or improve old ones. As you grow, your chances of winning more jobs increase.

Tip 3. We focus on building good ratings first before charging higher. Your objective in your first few months as a new freelancer should be to get some 5-star reviews. The money is just a plus at this stage. After building a reputation, you can raise your fee.

Tip 4. We don’t tell the client we are experts, we show it. Be creative with wooing prospective clients with your profile, proposal, and samples. Fill every section of your profile completely. Then, make certain that your proposal and samples are not generic, but rather tailored to each job.

Tip 5. We under-promise but always over-deliver. Do everything reasonably possible to make your client happy. For example, if you need two days to complete the project, don’t promise to do it in one day. It’s smarter to promise to deliver in 3-4 days and, if possible, actually deliver in 1-2 days.
